Trial to test for Barrett’s oesophagus launches in GP surgeries across UK

Funded by the Cambridge CRUK, developed at the NIHR Cambridge BRC and Cambridge CRF, trials have begun in GP surgeries allowing primary care staff to test for Barrett’s oesophagus.

Researchers hope to assess whether the Cytosponge – pill on a  string, will increase the number of Barrett’s oesophagus diagnoses in primary care.

This is the last step required before it could be adopted into mainstream practice.
