International Clinical Trials Day 2025
Today we’re celebrating all our amazing research participants and volunteers who take part in research.
Without you so many amazing discoveries wouldn’t be possible.
We need all different kinds of people to take part in research and there is a trial, or your experience is needed.
We asked some of our participants about their experience of taking part in research, comments included a new diagnosis of a serious unknown heart condition, to feeling listened to and valued.

Health Research Saves Lives

“After taking part in a healthy volunteer study, my daughter was diagnosed with a

2nd degree heart block.

If she hadn’t taken part, we would never of known until she becomes unwell.

I’m so grateful to the study team who acted upon the data”

What has been the best thing about taking part in research?

“The in between care, and also help reassure and show me where I was in my recovery/ or not.

Having someone to listen to my symptoms and have reassurance from the Doctor, that things may be different since my Long Covid diagnosis”

Bridget, PHOSP-I participant

Why did you take part in research?

“I’ve taken part in research at NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility, to help others with Long Covid.

Taking part in this study, I feel more energised, less breathless and I have fewer memory issues.”

Linda, PHOSP-I participant
