Research Facilities and Teams

All our facilities are co-located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, which is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

All except one of our facilities are housed together in two adjoined buildings, both of which are physically linked to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

The HLRI CRF is located in the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart and Lung Research Institute, which is physically linked to Royal Papworth Hospital, and just a short walk away from the other facilities.

The close proximity of our facilities to these hospitals enables easy access for on-site researchers and for patients, who can attend additional appointments, such as imaging, on the same site.

An expert team supports research requiring diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures in a dedicated Research Endoscopy Suite, and theatre-standard arthroscopy procedures.

Maternal and Child Health Clinical Research Facility

A dedicated team delivers complex, high-intensity research in adults in diverse specialties including neurodegenerative disease, mental health and vaccine trials. A flexible Outreach Team recruits and delivers complex trial interventions in the host NHS Trust inpatient population.

Cambridge Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is the largest, single site NIHR CRF. It is located in the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the largest centre of medical research and health science in Europe.

The NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is part of the NIHR and hosted by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
